2008

Apparently 2007 was a good year for wine, at least in Nappa. It was also a good year for anyone with a trunk full of gold bullion, although I guess any year could work with a trunk full of gold, depending on the context. Legend has it that my gambling grandfather used to store his gold bullion in the trunk of their Cadillac when the markets were fluctuating.
Seven has never been my lucky number and yet I seemed to have won the lottery on life challenges this year. One after another. Most significant of course was the loss of a parent, but also: moving to the country, aging (40), power, love, disease....lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy, pride...you get the idea.
This blog has become an exercise in general personal catharsis and it seems I have strayed far from the original project. Although my personal challenges will not cease this year, I hope that 2008 may also bring a radiant heated bathroom and at least a couple of functioning wood stoves. Please stay tuned.
Happy New Year.
